The kit

My system allows me to move projects seamlessly in and out of both large and small audio facilities.

Pro Tools

I'm currently running Pro Tools version 10 on both my home system and my portable system.

My home system is based around an Apple Mac Pro and my portable system runs on a Windows 7 HP PC Laptop. Moving projects between the two systems is absolutely seamless.

Desk ~ Mix Automation

Using the Digidesign 003 with motorised faders makes life very simple. All the automation written using this desk is replicated instantly by the audio mixing consoles in large facilities running Pro Tools, which these days has to be 99% of them.

Audio Monitoring

I have for years used Genelec monitors as I believe the sound they produce allows me to mix very accurately for TV regardless of my surroundings. I use Genelec 1029A and 8030A.

A small pair of Sony TV speakers provide me with a very realistic check that the mix will stand up on a less sophisticated domestic television and an even smaller Philips TV gives me yet another test.

Metering

PPM meters are absolutely essential when mixing for TV as is some form of loudness metering, so I use the Waves Loudness Meter to ensure tech review compliance for EBU R128 for example.

TV Deliverables

The mix bus structure I use within Pro Tools allows me to create delivery stems with ease.
